A Fresh Brand for a Bitcoin-Centric Event Space

What started as a quick logo became a full visual identity, delivered as a high-impact gift to one of our best clients in record time.

Bitcoin Commons, a community space for bitcoiners in downtown Austin owned and managed by one of our clients—Unchained, needed a brand—but didn’t have one. Aside from a quickly built logo, there was no identity, no visual language, and no creative system to build from.

We weren’t hired for the project. Bitcoin Commons never asked. But we saw the opportunity to level up their presence and show our gratitude to Unchained, their parent company and longtime partner. So, we delivered a full brand sprint in just two weeks—reimagining the Commons as a bold, flexible space with a memorable visual identity.

The Challenge

This sprint was unique in that we had no direct contact with the Commons team during the rebrand. We had to rely on context from our work with Unchained, past conversations with the bitcoin community, and our instincts as both designers and strategists.

The other challenge? Time. We had two weeks to complete the project so we could deliver it as a surprise gift to Unchained. No rounds of feedback. No approvals. Just execution.

Our Solution

We created a lightweight but robust brand system that reflected the Commons’ energy, community, and mission. The identity is bold, modern, and flexible—easy for internal teams to use, and built to scale with future needs.

The brand’s simplicity and clarity made it instantly usable. Within days, the Commons team had already started incorporating the assets into their own marketing and event materials.

The Process

Because we weren’t working with stakeholders directly, we became them—guiding the creative process using everything we knew about the Commons, its values, its audience, and its role within the Bitcoin ecosystem.

We kicked off with moodboarding and stylistic exploration, then moved quickly into visual directions, sketches, and refinements. Within two weeks, we had delivered a complete Minimal Viable Brand (MVB) system, including logos, lockups, color palette, typography, badges, and supporting visuals.

The Outcome

Our team has worked with Unchained and Bitcoin Commons for nearly three years, and this sprint remains one of our favorite creative exercises. It not only taught us how to push our brand sprint process further and faster but also proved to our client our desire to see them succeed and the value we can bring to the table.
